Hell’s Paradise Needs More Hype

Where is the hype for Hell’s Paradise guys?

Maybe I’m just not looking in the right place, or maybe I’m just missing it but I feel like I’ve seen so few people talking about the fact that hell’s paradise anime is less than a week away which is a tragedy for a manga this good. There is a reason manga fans consider it to be a part of the dark trio. You know what else is in the dark trio? Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw man. It’s written by Yuji Kaku, an assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto. It’s an anime battle royale being animated by MAPPA.

Like don’t get me wrong, It’s still fairly popular but it’s nothing compared to it’s two siblings series. I am hoping that mappa gives it the time and love it deserves because there is no doubt in my mind that it has the potential to be one of the biggest shows of this year.

Anybody who has read Hell’s paradise knows how good it is. Let me explain the basic premise without any spoilers of course.

The story of hells paradise follows a man named Gabimaru the hollow, a vicious assassin and highly renowned Shinobi who absolutely has that dog in him and because he has that dog in him, he can’t die. Which is obviously a hassle for the people trying to execute him for his crimes. To remedy this problem Gabimaru is invited to join a special Expedition on which the world’s worst criminals are paired with one of the world’s best executioners and sent to a remote island that supposedly has the secret elixir of eternal life. The rules are simple you try to escape, you die. You kill your partner, you die. You fuck up in any way conceivable to a human being, you die. But if you manage to secure that Elixir and deliver it back to the Shogun, you’ll be granted your full freedom and a new chance at life. Of course, that’s only if the secrets of the island don’t kill you first.

it’s a Battle Royale on an island of death featuring all the most overpowered characters this world has to offer. The story actually fully utilizes the potential for both its mystery and Battle Royale action. These are desperate violent people who were already criminals so you know their asses are not following the rules. They’re out here plotting, conniving or just straight murdering everything they see. It’s not just the generic heroes in the tale, it’s all sorts of Shades of Gray, and seeing the different agendas of each character is so fun. everyone on this island is a potential threat. Crossing paths with or trusting the wrong person means death and that just makes it exhilarating to consume. The secrets of this island are fascinating.

Hell’s paradise is considered a Shonen but one so dark it could pretty much be a Seinen and that entails exactly what you think it would. There’d be some blood and there might even be the occasional boobies and sex. Yeah, that shit’s pretty Rad but what really gets me about hell’s Paradise is that it never shies away from the darkness and hopelessness of its situations. Characters die, betray each other, and go through horrifying struggles and tribulations and yet it can still somehow display that classic Shonen hope through it all. That indomitable human spirit being realistically woven into grounded and believable characters. It’s the perfect Shonen and Seinen love child.

Hell’s Paradise anime drops on April 1st. Hell’s Paradise is more than deserving of the hype and I think it’s something you won’t regret getting excited for.
