I’m trying to recall the name of an old anime, possibly aired before 2010 (not 100% sure), that I remember watching as a kid. The main character travels with someone in a tank looking vehicle, driving through deserts in a world that has been taken over by robots. To enter the city, they must behave like robots, eat nuts, batteries and oils, etc. I also recall a grandpa character who lived in a mountain, where the mountain face opens to get to his hideout. He made a toy car that somehow helped the two characters
