The war was taking a turn for the worse as the king’s armies left the city for the campaign. Only a week earlier, things had rapidly declined. The price of food rose as less and less became available at the markets. Thieves and bandits openly robbed people in the streets, and sometimes worse, slipping down alleyways out of sight of the guards who usually patrolled the city and the walls. The few guards still in the streets seemed corrupt, taking bribes of coin and booze. It almost looks like someone was packing a tinderbox as tightly as possible, ready to burst; unfortunately, it seems someone just sparked the match as a flaming catapult fires a boulder through the city gates.

People were scattered through the streets, some of the guards running back from the carnage. A force has shown up, no military, this horde seems chaotic, trolls throwing goblins out of the way as they pushed through the wreckage, imps flying down and snatching people into the air from the window. An orc slams his skull into the face of a guard, and as he falls, his eyes then peer up towards tilting as a smile goes across his face, and he starts to head towards the building
