The rewatch for Animegataris starts in one week!
You may remember [the last time when we hosted the movie series](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/uh3b7v/announcing_the_modhosted_rewatch_series/); this time however, we opted to do a single 12-episode anime, with a rotating mod host every episode. # So, what is Animegataris, and why should you join this rewatch?

>Animegataris aired in 2017 and was largely ignored. It was a packed season… and lets face it: no one expected [Houseki no Kuni to end up anime of the year](https://redd.it/7vyggz). On the outside, it may look like a generic high-school club series, but its [7.78 MAL score](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35427/Animegataris) does elude to it punching above what an initial glance might have you think.

>Animegataris is primarily a comedy; it plays into tropes and generic expectations only to later subvert them. The series packs a surprising amount of depth and into its short 12 episode run, and is largely tied together by the superbly focused cast. When it reveals its final-form, every joke lands and you realize just how much was built up to maximize the gags.
